Spiritual Direction: An Ancient Practice for Modern Times
In today's world, it is often so very difficult to find places of interior and exterior rest and rejuvenation. Spiritual direction is an ancient spiritual practice that allows us to grow deeper in our relationship with the sacred in ourselves and in the world. The great paradox of contemplation and spiritual direction is that by going deeper within ourselves, we are able to go deeper into the world - with all of its noise and chaos - and fall more deeply in love with the so-called ordinariness of our unique lives.
Through this process of sacred listening and presence, you can expect to:
- deepen your experience of the sacred in everyday life
- deepen your relationship with the divine, with your deepest self, and with others
- identify themes in your life that will help you to live from your deepest spiritual identity
- grow to trust your inherent inner wisdom
- connect with God in new and renewed ways
What to expect during a spiritual direction session:
- our monthly 60- or 90-minute sessions often begin with a time of contemplative silence, followed by sharing and exploration around the presence of the sacred in the client's life.
- Drawing on the Celtic spiritual practices of her ancestors, Catherine includes a range of modalities in her practice, as appropriate to the unique needs and preferences of the client:
- nature
- photography
- lectio divina
- poetry
- narrative and metaphor
- embodied spirituality, such as contemplative movement and the interior movements of the heart
